What Is A Country House
A country house is destined to spend quality time, away from modern and busy life. There are some important facts to consider when settling a country house: the lightening, the volumes and the shapes.
The country house should provide a special atmosphere, given by light and the setting of some elements in the right places. The most important thing is to make sure you have enough brightness in the room; so there shouldn’t be any dark furniture or country decor, like window blinds, large paintings on the walls. The natural light is better than the artificial one, but in the evenings, you can create a country environment with the light from the burning fireplace. Lay a natural bear fur or a wool blanket right near it and some real small logs, instead of chairs. You can apply thin pads on top of them or cover their upper side with an embroidered tissue and then string it with a romantic bow. The country table lamps are moderate in size and have a classic shape, but what makes them stand out are their wooden holder and the upper fabric, made of simple linen, but with decorative motifs. The chandlers vary from light to dark brown and they are designed in curved shapes, sometimes with floral symbols on the wood. For a small, private room, choose 2 small table lamps, which diffusely light the room.
In a country house, the natural aspect is essential. That is why the sizes must harmonize and give a simple look. Still, larger volumes for the wooden furniture have a great effect, like bringing time to past and roots. Window curtains should also be wavy and full, to give the feeling of protection and isolation. Decor pieces can be large if they consist in manual craft, such as baskets, trunks or interlaced wood objects, which can also function as furniture pieces.
The rustic shapes are predominantly curvy, round and romantic. The furniture can be in classic shapes, but the curvy applications on it are welcomed. The stylized or metal beds and the non symmetrical pieces of decor are excluded as they seem too cold for the country house and they don’t reflect harmony.
By adopting all these simple rules, the rest of the furnishing and decoration of the country house is just a matter of creativity. Lighted, curvy shaped and natural sized rooms and elements are the start for a relaxing country house.
