Colors of Country Decor

Whether you own a city home, an apartment or even better, a country home in the mountains or a holiday house on the beach, country decor is a creative and accessible choice to improve the look of your home. Country decor is creative because it allows innovations and handcraft and it is accessible because you can find items anywhere, make them yourself or decorate the decor items you already have.

There is a basic aspect you have to consider when acquiring or creating a country decor: its colors. Rustic colors are mostly warm ones, which can create better a natural space and a relaxing atmosphere. These vary from sallow to yellow, brick-colored, caramel and ochre, till dark reds and brown blacks. White is also common, but associated with stronger colors as tiny motifs on the cloth. You can get a fluffy brown bear and seat it on armchairs or sofas, near a checkered orange pillow or a beige one with floral applications and that place will easily look rustic.

Country decor must be in harmony with the furniture and the walls. It is not a good idea to match the decor to the walls completely, as country decors must make the difference, especially in a non country rooms. If you have sky blue walls, orange country decors are a great option, as they contrast optically, but give the feeling of warmth. For yellow walls adopt medium to dark brown decors and for white walls all decor colors are welcomed. The best solution is that the walls are the lightest ones, the furniture the darkest and the decors in between.

The black, white and grey of the furniture are no impediments for adding some country decor and transform the room from classic to rustic. For a faded grey room, don’t add dark colored country decors, but choose beige and cream. Put a large wooden and interlaced fruit basket on the main table, add colored fruits in it and then assort it with a crate in a corner of the room. In this case, only two matching elements, plus the vivid fruits are sufficient to change the entire style, because they stand out on a mate and dull background.

Country decor's strong, aggressive nuances are never welcomed in a country environment, mostly because these colors don’t let you relax as well as the warm, earthy ones, plus the fact that they don’t represent natural symbols. Country decor must light up the room and stand out as artistic and natural; its various combinations and colors complete and define the entire room.
